God, Suffering and the Christian by
David Tyndall
Why does she have to die so young? exclaimed the grandson of an elderly lady in Greenwich Hospital. The question ‘Why?’ often surfaces when people or their loved ones suffer. When I was 20 my mother became a paraplegic in a car accident and my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I have also lost four relatives in separate car accidents. In my book ‘God, Suffering and the Christian’ I explore some answers that the Bible provides about why people suffer. As I tell my story I also examine what the Bible tells us about God’s love, what suffering can teach us, and how to persevere in faith through prayer, hope, contentment, and joy. I also provide some practical strategies for self-care.
